Hallow's End achievements in WotLK: every step to Hallowed Be Thy Name and the title the Hallowed

Hallow’s End has its own title: the Hallowed. You get it by completing the meta achievement Hallowed Be Thy Name, which asks for eleven of the event’s achievements. Most of them take minutes. Two take real time, and one depends on luck, so it pays to start early in the event’s two weeks (18 October to 1 November).

Hallowed Be Thy Name is also one of the world event metas for What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been, the year-long achievement that rewards the Violet Proto-Drake. If you’re working on that drake, this is one of the more relaxed steps.

Below is every achievement the meta needs, roughly in the order that saves the most time. For the event itself, see the Hallow’s End guide.

The eleven achievements

Achievement What it asks
Trick or Treat! Get candy from a candy bucket in an inn
Tricks and Treats of Azeroth Visit the candy buckets of Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms and Outland
Out With It Eat so many Tricky Treats that you get an upset tummy
That Sparkling Smile Show off your sparkling smile by using a Tooth Pick
The Masquerade Get transformed by each of the Hallowed Wands
Check Your Head Put pumpkin heads on each listed race with Weighted Jack-o’-Lanterns
The Savior of Hallow’s End Complete one of the quests to save a village from the Headless Horseman
Rotten Hallow Complete your faction’s quests to ruin the other side’s festival
G.N.E.R.D. Rage Earn 50 honorable kills under the G.N.E.R.D. buff
Bring Me The Head of… Oh Wait Kill the Headless Horseman
Sinister Calling Get the Sinister Squashling pet and the Hallowed Helm

The quick ones

Trick or Treat! Loot the candy bucket in any inn. You’ll get it within a minute of logging in during the event.

Out With It. Eat Tricky Treats until you get an upset tummy. They come from candy buckets, Treat Bags and the Headless Horseman. Eat them one after another rather than spreading them out.

That Sparkling Smile. Use a Tooth Pick, which comes in the Treat Bags the innkeepers hand out when you trick or treat. Keep one when it drops.

The Savior of Hallow’s End. During the event, the Headless Horseman sets fire to the starting villages. Join the fire brigade quest in one of them and help put the flames out with buckets of water. It goes much faster with other players around, so do it when the village is busy.

Rotten Hallow. Each faction has a short quest chain to spoil the other side’s fun. Alliance players crash the Horde’s wickerman festival and clean up the stink bombs in Southshore. Horde players go to Southshore, spoil the kegs with rotten eggs and toss stink bombs into the town. It’s a few quick quests either way.

The ones that take a little planning

The Masquerade. Get turned into each form by the Hallowed Wands: pirate, ninja, skeleton, ghost, bat, wisp and leper gnome. Each wand transforms another player, so team up with a friend and take turns, or ask in town. Wands come from Treat Bags and the event vendors, which take Tricky Treats.

Check Your Head. Use Weighted Jack-o’-Lanterns to put pumpkin heads on players of each race in the list. The Jack-o’-Lanterns drop from the Headless Horseman. Then stand in a capital city or a busy inn and work through the races. Players of the other faction count too, so a neutral town helps.

G.N.E.R.D. Rage. Eat a G.N.E.R.D.S. to get its buff, then earn 50 honorable kills while it lasts. Battlegrounds are the fastest way: queue for a quick one, eat the candy as it starts, and keep it up.

The two that take time

Tricks and Treats of Azeroth. This is the long one. You need the candy bucket achievements for Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms and Outland, which means visiting almost every inn on all three. Some tips:

  • Use the capital city portals and flight paths. Go zone by zone and you won’t backtrack.
  • A flying mount makes Outland quick.
  • Each continent has a separate achievement, so you can see what’s left in your achievement panel.
  • The buckets are usually right next to the innkeeper.

Sinister Calling. You need the Sinister Squashling pet and the Hallowed Helm. Both come from the Loot-Filled Pumpkin you get from your first Headless Horseman kill each day, at about 8% each. That’s the one part of the title that depends on luck. At level 80 you can queue for the Horseman through the Dungeon Finder once a day. Do it every day of the event, and the Headless Horseman guide covers the fight and the full loot table.

Bring Me The Head of… Oh Wait comes with your first Horseman kill, so you’ll earn it on the way.

What’s not needed

Two Hallow’s End achievements are not part of the meta, so you can skip them if you’re short on time:

  • The Mask Task: get a Flimsy Mask.
  • A Mask for All Occasions: collect all 20 Flimsy Masks.

They’re still fun, and the masks make good screenshots, but the title doesn’t need them.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get the Hallowed title in WotLK?

Complete the meta achievement Hallowed Be Thy Name during Hallow's End. It needs eleven of the event's achievements, from trick or treating and the candy buckets to killing the Headless Horseman and getting the Sinister Squashling and the Hallowed Helm.

What achievements are needed for Hallowed Be Thy Name?

Trick or Treat!, Out With It, Bring Me The Head of... Oh Wait, The Savior of Hallow's End, That Sparkling Smile, Rotten Hallow, G.N.E.R.D. Rage, Check Your Head, The Masquerade, Sinister Calling, and Tricks and Treats of Azeroth.

What is the hardest Hallow's End achievement?

Sinister Calling is the hardest, because it needs both the Sinister Squashling and the Hallowed Helm, which come from a pumpkin with an 8% chance each. Tricks and Treats of Azeroth takes the longest, since it means visiting the candy buckets across three continents.

What does Hallowed Be Thy Name count toward?

It is one of the world event meta achievements needed for What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been, which rewards the Violet Proto-Drake.
